I feel very similar. I couldn’t help but notice Andreesen Horowitz created a fund for investing in black entrepreneurs that is a meager $2M which is the SEED round for most startups these days. I couldn’t help but notice SoftBank had no link or way to apply to their $100M fund.

Press like TC and others are complicit in this behavior because they do little to no vetting publishing press releases about firms that don’t have as much as a link to apply. How can you launch a fund with no clear pathway for Black entrepreneurs to apply?

These behaviors are considered performative allyship and they need to be called out as such because this is what perpetuates the problem. It doesn’t help us and doesn’t help the movement but rather undermines it with inauthentic changes that will ultimately lead back to things the way they were. Thank you for writing this piece as I’ve been wondering about it myself for weeks and its incredibly frustrating.
