We’ve always said that TheGlint is inspired by 17th-century salons and now with our own space — House of Glint — we’re recreating that in the 21st century. It’s the home of TheGlint and a space created for experiences that seeks to connect humans in a deeper and intellectual way through artistic pursuits, meaningful conversations, and authentic interactions. We can’t help but host experiences like salons, performances, workshops, inspiring talks, Co-working Fridays and whatever exciting gatherings we can conjure to achieve this. And it’s because we want to point to another way in which we engage and interact with art.

We’re here to push boundaries, to explore, to venture into the words of poets, paintings of artist, the body of dancers and the mind of philosophers, flow into the sounds of musicians, and so on and so forth.

We are designing this space to be an epicenter of culture, arts, and conversations, drawing inspiration from the Gertrude Stein’s Salons and Andy Warhol’s Factory. But there are a few exceptions: we are making it open and accessible with diversity at its core. We want to contribute to San Francisco’s artistic and cultural movement by gathering artists, entrepreneurs, dreamers, doers, thinkers, explorers, and believers to exchange valuable ideas in this space.

It’s a space that is committed to a radical participation ethos and transformative change that is possible through a safe environment for artistic pursuits, collaboration and dialogue. We’ve taken inspiration from others to create our own ethos to capture the spirit of the community we wish to create. House of Glint is a work-in-progress but we are taking things one step further by launching an Artist-In-Residence program.

Art generates valuable culture. We created a program and a space that aligns artistic value with financial gain.

We love supporting artists as we believe that art generates valuable culture and so our mission is to provide artists-in-residence with space where they can take creative risks, receive feedback, and interact with diverse people with varied backgrounds. And as we place great value on the very presence of artists in our community and at our space, we have created a model called Culture Generating Shares. Residents qualify for these shares when they generate culture through participation and that is defined by the simple act of showing up. Any further acts of participation is a collaboration endeavor we support in every way we can.

If you’re interested in learning more, House of Glint is opening on Saturday, June 11th at 8pm. We are excited, nervous, proud, happy, and ready to take this journey. We already have quite a few exciting experiences on our calendar, the first one of which features Crash Alchemy, a multimedia multidisciplinary collective of performers, designers, and technologists.

And finally, we want to thank our Scott McLeod and Kevin Fishner for going along with these crazy ideas of making our home something more. So here goes… launch.theglint.com
