Futures is a publication of illustrated sci-fi short stories written by designers, artists, entrepreneurs and futurists to explore the social impact of technology in our society.

Stories

An account of imaginary or real people and events told for readers to think about the future.

We strive to curate stories around the lives of fictional characters and how they exist in a future with exponential technologies. Each story is written to focus on the human impact of a future with exponential technology by entrepreneurs, designers, artists, musicians, futurists and other creatives. These stories explore specific technologies that will play a defining role in our future — VR/AR, autonomous vehicles, artificial intelligence, drones and robotics, synthetic biology, nano technology, 3D printing, gene editing and more.

Why

DX Labs, as a design and technology studio, passionately believes in the role technology plays for the future of our species. We see it as a powerful tool in shaping our society in both positive and negative ways. We created dxFutures as a way to tap into the imagination of creative leaders in various technology spaces to peer into these futures for deeper conversations about them. We want writers to explore what are the success criteria for the technologies we create and its impact.

It is our hope and belief that these stories can generate deep and thoughtful questions and dialogue that helps us explore the ideal uses of technologies and start to think about avoiding its pitfalls. dxFutures curate stories that are meant to inspire, provoke and engage readers.
